about

I co-wrote this with Stuart Nicol, Gary Painting and Rick Allardice back in the Cross the Border days.
We released a really cool version with Stoo singing the verses and Spratton Primary School choir singing the choruses.
I've always wanted to do my own solo version though - and here it is!

lyrics

Sitting by the fire snow falls on the ground
Summer's gone, autumn's passed, winter's long and weary

But I'm by the fire, tankard full of ale
Scuttle full, woodpile stacked, ham upon the nail
Stew upon the stove, dough is rising fast
Smell of Christmas spices bring back winters past

I sing this winter song. Time for friends and family as we all sing along x2

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire
Children wait expectantly. Stockings on the wire
Always something magic about this time of year
Past and now the future embrace warming cheer

Chorus

Grandpa telling stories bring the past to life
Cold meats and pickle on St Stephen's night
This year's almost over a new one soon to start
Lets all link hands sing Auld Lang Syne acquaintance nay forgot

Chorus x 2

Please sing along
