Grass Grows Greener

from Bubble and Squeak (Rest of Vol 2) by Lew Bear

/

about

This track first appeared on A Time and a Place, but I wondered what it'd sound like with a bigger production. So I added drums, ukulele, bass, 2nd guitar...and didn't like it and deleted them all.
So, now I'm left with a track that doesn't really add much to what I've done with it, but hey, once I'd come that far, I may as well put it out there

lyrics

People would say when I was a lad
Why so glum why so sad
You got your whole life ahead of you
Worries and fears well you have few

And I said

The grass grows greener on the other side
The grass grows greener on the other side
Sun is high and the water's wide
Where the grass grows greener on the other side

People would say when I was young
Dont mess around dont have too much fun
But I had the itchiest feet in town
And I never ever ever wanna settle down

So I said

Chorus

People would say in middle age
Dont you feel trapped and in a cage
I said no I did it all in my prime
Now it's you singing my old rhyme

And they say

Chorus

People do say now that I'm old
How are you so fearless and so bold
Of the end of death everyone fears
But you have grown more careless through the years

And I say

Chorus x2
