Echoes Of The Past

from Ripples by Lew Bear

/

about

This song has a theme I'd wanted to use for a long time, then Coventry Singer-Songwriters group had the theme "Echoes" for a month and the second I saw the word, the whole song started flowing out and I struggled to keep up!

lyrics

Once upon a time there was a boy who wore my name
He thought he wore it well
Thought life was a game, and emotions simply names
He puts me through hell

And the echoes of the past grow discordant with age
Coz they don’t change the key, as I turn the page
The boy I once was, well he’s gone for good
Cant forget his deeds, oh no, I wish I could

Done too many sins and hurt too many things
To ever fully atone
But I gotta try – I use your pain to cry
I wish I had known

And the echoes of the past grow discordant with age
Coz they don’t change the key, as I turn the page
The boy I once was, well he’s gone for good
Cant forget his deeds, oh no, I wish I could

Wish I could forget all the things I said
That I didn’t mean that I do regret
Wish I could forget all the things I did
That I didn’t mean that I do regret x2

And the echoes of the past grow discordant with age
Coz they don’t change the key, as I turn the page
The boy I once was, well he’s gone for good
Cant forget his deeds, oh no, I wish I could
