A Folk Song

from Down By The Riverside by Lew Bear

/

about

I already had a good version of this song recorded, so when I was driving past a grove of trees in the Fawsley Estate and the thought "I need to record A Folk Song in there" jumped into my head I was a little surprised, but followed the lead of my instincts

I was happy I did

lyrics

We sing sea shanties
In a round of melodies
We sing of rovers wild
Green grow the nettles
Pots into kettles
A tale of an orphaned child

Chorus
A song a song a folk song
To wash away our fears
A song a song a folk song
To pass down through the years

We sing John Barleycorn
And tell of ancient wars
Of battles no one wins
We sing of rainy nights
Cold haily rainy nights
Of nights that are full of sin

Chorus

Where did it all begin?
Hunters plucking on bowstrings
Or Mummies soothing little ones
Or did it we do it just for fun?

Double chorus
